The Clinical Education Manager at Galen College of Nursing plays a pivotal role in enhancing the educational experience of nursing students by overseeing and coordinating clinical experiences. The Clinical Education Manager is responsible for negotiating and arranging clinical experiences for all students enrolled in prelicensure nursing programs, ensuring that these experiences align with established learning outcomes. This role requires a deep understanding of the clinical practice of nursing and the educational objectives that guide student learning. In this capacity, the Clinical Education Manager will coordinate and supervise the operation of clinical experiences, providing essential support to faculty and staff in preparing for these experiences. This includes managing required clinical compliance documentation and ensuring that all faculty and students meet facility-specific orientation requirements. The Clinical Education Manager may also serve as a faculty substitute during clinical experiences when necessary, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to student success. Additionally, the Clinical Education Manager will establish and maintain relationships with representatives of clinical agencies to secure a variety of clinical sites that are appropriate for student learning outcomes. This role involves overseeing the hiring, performance appraisal, and mentoring of clinical faculty and staff, ensuring that they are well-equipped to provide high-quality educational experiences. The Clinical Education Manager will also be responsible for conducting walkthrough surveys of clinical sites, reporting findings to college and campus leadership, and making recommendations for curriculum and clinical learning activity changes based on identified needs. The position requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication abilities to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders. The Clinical Education Manager will also attend Student Advisory Committee meetings to gather feedback and contribute to continuous quality monitoring and improvement efforts within the college. Overall, this role is integral to fostering an environment of excellence in nursing education and ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed in their clinical training.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise the operation of clinical experiences to provide clinical learning experiences according to established learning outcomes.
  • Assist faculty and staff with preparation for clinical experiences, including required clinical compliance documentation for students and faculty.
  • Serve as faculty substitute in the facilitation of clinical experiences as needed.
  • Assist with standardized clinical faculty and staff orientation and development in collaboration with campus and college leadership.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with representatives of clinical agencies to maintain a variety of clinical sites appropriate for student learning outcomes.
  • Oversee and assist with hiring, performance appraisal, and mentoring of clinical faculty and staff under the direction of campus leadership.
  • Assist with negotiating and arranging clinical experiences in alignment with established clinical site selection criteria.
  • Identify agencies for clinical experience that are appropriate to support course student learning outcomes and collaborate with campus leadership to establish clinical learning opportunities.
  • Oversee clinical site development and clinical scheduling to enhance nursing student experiences.
  • Oversee the implementation of clinical experience surveys in collaboration with College and Campus clinical learning leadership for continuous quality monitoring and improvement.
  • Perform walkthrough surveys of clinical sites and experiences and report findings to college and campus leadership.
  • Make recommendations for curriculum and clinical learning activity changes to the curriculum council and the Director of Clinical Learning based on research and identified needs.
  • Communicate and integrate college-wide policy and process changes regarding clinical learning standardization and implementation.
  • Attend Student Advisory Committee meetings and report feedback to college and campus leadership for the purpose of continuous quality monitoring and improvement.
  • Assist with the resolution of student and/or faculty concerns regarding clinical experiences in collaboration with college and campus leadership.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification of an MSN, or a BSN with at least two (2) years' experience in clinical education.
  • Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable state as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least two (2) years of recent clinical experience.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret learning experience needs of students and match them to the capabilities of clinical placement agencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to be creative and innovative.
  • Proficient computer skills in order to collect and analyze data.
  • Must agree to obtain CNEcl certification within one (1) year of acceptance of position.
