About the position

The Clinical Educator (RN) at Families Together of Orange County is responsible for coordinating and implementing orientation, training, and continuing education for clinical support staff. This role serves as an expert resource for staff and managers regarding clinical staff development, collaborating with care coordinators and primary care providers to enhance patient education opportunities. The Clinical Educator will also conduct competency assessments for Medical Assistants and develop growth plans to ensure staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a skills and competency assessment for medical assistants, LVNs, and other clinical support staff.
  • Identify staff competencies and areas of improvement and provide both didactic and practical on-the-job teaching and demonstration as appropriate.
  • Develop standardized topics and ensure staff are given appropriate in-service training.
  • Create training schedules by site and by group of staff for year-round in-service.
  • Work with managers and providers to ensure new skills are required, including customer service and handling challenging patient scenarios.
  • Ensure that staff have standard skillsets and are tested prior to hiring.
  • Update required skillsets and check for qualifications based on job requirements in collaboration with recruitment.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years' experience leading a clinical team; previous experience as Charge Nurse desirable; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Nursing degree from an accredited college or graduation from an approved RN program required.
  • Current unencumbered license to practice as an RN in California.
  • Current, valid CPR certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and clinical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to send and receive emails and summarize data in spreadsheets.
  • Valid CA Driver's License as travel will be required ~15% of the time.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
