About the position
The Biomed Specialist at Community Health System is responsible for ensuring the reliability and maintenance of biomedical equipment. This role involves performing preventative maintenance, installations, testing, calibrations, and repairs on various medical devices, including surgical and life support equipment. The position emphasizes high customer satisfaction, accurate documentation, and effective communication with peers and staff.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and service calls to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrate initiative and ownership of assigned equipment and service calls, documenting productive hours accurately.
- Complete equipment repairs and resolve network issues using knowledge of electronic theory and computer hardware.
- Utilize troubleshooting skills to read and comprehend schematics, block diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Instruct Biomed and other technical staff on testing, operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medical equipment.
- Complete assigned life support and non-life support equipment PM's within the due month.
- Accurately populate equipment database records as per department policy, including HIPAA requirements.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and submit purchase order requests with necessary details.
- Coordinate projects with vendors/departments and verify equipment operation upon project completion.
- Complete equipment PM's to meet monthly EOC goals and demonstrate understanding of safety policies.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Electronics, Engineering, Electrical Systems technology, Physics, or a directly related field.
- Completion of the US Military Biomedical Technician (BMET) program.
- 2 years of experience as a Biomedical Technician or Electronics Technician.
- 4 years of Biomedical Electronics Technician experience may substitute for the educational requirement.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Systems technology, Physics, or a directly related field may substitute for the educational and experience requirement.
