The Clinical Exercise Physiologist position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) focuses on providing multidisciplinary rehabilitative care to patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions. This role is essential in assessing patients' exercise, educational, and behavioral needs, ensuring that they receive tailored rehabilitation programs that enhance their quality of life. The successful candidate will evaluate patients' conditions, including strength, endurance, and flexibility, and will implement strategies to reduce falls through balance training. Working within a collaborative team environment, the Clinical Exercise Physiologist will engage with medical directors, registered nurses, dietitians, respiratory therapists, and fellow exercise physiologists to establish rehabilitation goals and develop individualized treatment plans. This position requires a leadership role in guiding exercise prescriptions and progressions, ensuring that each patient's unique needs are met. The physiologist will also be responsible for understanding and pursuing program performance metrics to guarantee optimal outcomes for all patients, ranging from young adults to geriatric populations.
