About the position

The Clinical Exercise Physiologist will lead the activities of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and, as needed, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. This role involves implementing and conducting various activities as a clinician, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care tailored to their specific needs. The Clinical Exercise Physiologist will work closely with adult and geriatric populations, providing comprehensive assessments and developing individualized exercise plans that promote health and recovery. This position also serves as a vital resource for the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health and the surrounding community, contributing to the overall wellness and rehabilitation of patients. The role requires a deep understanding of exercise physiology, patient care, and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The Clinical Exercise Physiologist will also be responsible for educating patients and their families about the importance of exercise in managing chronic conditions and improving overall health. This includes monitoring patient progress, adjusting exercise prescriptions as necessary, and providing ongoing support and motivation to encourage adherence to rehabilitation programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the activities of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program.
  • Implement and conduct rehabilitation activities as a clinician.
  • Provide care to adult and geriatric populations.
  • Develop individualized exercise plans for patients.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust exercise prescriptions as necessary.
  • Educate patients and families about exercise and health management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology or related field.
  • Certification as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) or equivalent.
  • Experience in pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of exercise physiology and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with geriatric populations.
  • Familiarity with community health resources.
  • Additional certifications in related health fields.
