About the position

The Clinical Faculty position at Brigham Young University's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is a full-time role focused on delivering psychological services to the university community, including students, faculty, and administration. The faculty member will provide individual, group, and couples therapy, engage in outreach and consultation, and teach courses related to mental health and psychology. This position emphasizes compassionate service aligned with the teachings of Jesus Christ, aiming to build faith and provide scientifically accurate psychological content.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual therapy, group therapy, and couples therapy.
  • Supervise graduate therapist-in-therapy, including supervision of interns from an APA-accredited internship.
  • Teach one Student Development course focused on mental health and psychology topics.
  • Provide community-level outreach intervention and consultation to the university community.
  • Participate in scholarly activity and relevant research.
  • Serve on assigned faculty department and university committees.
  • Complete clinical documentation.
  • Receive training and education in professional issues and trends, participate in professional organizations, and complete continuing education to maintain licensure.
  • Participate in mentorship activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • A doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work, completed by the start date.
  • Utah licensure required within one year of hire.
  • Previous college counseling center experience preferred.
  • Experience with psychotherapy, assessment, and training of Ph.D. students in a university setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in working with diverse populations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
  • Flexibility is required.
