About the position

The Clinical Instructor and Director of the Center for Rehabilitation and Independent Living (CRIL) at Georgia Southern University is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the CRIL, including programs such as Camp RAD and Super Eagles. This role involves administrative duties, teaching undergraduate courses, and engaging with community needs to foster partnerships. The position is a 12-month non-tenure track appointment, emphasizing a commitment to student success and best practices in education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direct oversight of the Center for Rehabilitation and Independent Living (CRIL).
  • Lead, direct, supervise, and evaluate all facets of programming and special events.
  • Represent the Center with public and university audiences as needed.
  • Serve as a departmental purchasing agent.
  • Assist in maintaining the Center facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • Communicate community-identified needs to potential campus partners.
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education, or Coaching Education programs.

Requirements

  • Earned master’s degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Health Education, Coaching Education, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in relevant subjects by July 1, 2025.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills.
  • Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications.
  • Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
  • Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience teaching Exercise Science, Physical Education, Health Education, Coaching Education courses at the college/university level.
  • Ability to teach online.
  • Experience working with grants.
