About the position

The School of Public and Allied Health at Prairie View A&M University is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to fill the role of Clinical Instructor/ Clinical Assistant Professor of Kinesiology. This position involves a combination of teaching, mentorship, and program oversight responsibilities, with a particular focus on ensuring that Kinesiology students receive high-quality, practical experiences that align with their academic and professional goals. The successful candidate will also play a pivotal role in overseeing the internship program, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Kinesiology.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development guidance to students.
  • Develop and revise course materials to reflect the latest research and industry practices.
  • Coordinate and manage the internship program for Kinesiology students, including the placement, supervision, and assessment of students in various professional settings.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with industry partners to secure high-quality internship opportunities that enhance student learning and professional readiness.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance during internships, providing feedback and support to ensure meaningful experiential learning.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty members to align the internship program with the broader Kinesiology curriculum and program goals.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other collaborative activities to contribute to the continuous improvement of the Kinesiology program.
  • Engage in curriculum development efforts to ensure the program remains current with industry standards and emerging trends in the field.
  • Engage in scholarly research, publications, and presentations in the field of Kinesiology, contributing to the academic community and enhancing the university's reputation.
  • Seek external funding opportunities to support research initiatives and program development.

Requirements

  • Master's degree/Ph. D./Ed. D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or a closely related field is required.
  • Two plus years in supervising internships, clinical placements, or experiential learning opportunities in Kinesiology or related discipline.
  • Three plus years teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in Kinesiology or closely related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with course development and curriculum design is preferred.
