About the position

The Clinical Lab Assistant at Alexandria Technical & Community College plays a vital role in supporting nursing students and faculty within the Simulation Learning Center and Nursing Practice Labs. This position involves coordinating lab activities, assisting with student skills practice, and ensuring the effective operation of lab equipment and resources. The assistant will also engage in community outreach and recruitment efforts to promote nursing programs.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist students with lab practice for nursing and other Health Division programs.
  • Assist with the setup of demonstrations of laboratory techniques and procedures for students.
  • Organize laboratory equipment and order supplies for demonstrations and lab use.
  • Reinforce clinical-related information provided by nursing faculty to students.
  • Assist faculty with simulations, including acting as a standardized patient.
  • Perform repair and maintenance of lab equipment, conducting tests and making minor repairs.
  • Manage technology of lab and simulation equipment.
  • Assist faculty with special event preparation to increase enrollment and awareness of nursing programs.
  • Prepare handouts and organize materials for lab activities.
  • Assist with student orientations and recruitment activities.

Requirements

  • Current unencumbered State of MN Registered Nursing Licensure
  • Proficiency with technology

Nice-to-haves

  • RN Licensure
  • Knowledge of nursing theory and procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate the use of technology related to equipment and materials
  • Ability to perform repair and maintenance of lab equipment
  • Ability to oversee equipment and materials safety and inventory
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Ability to prepare and manage Simulated Instructional Manikin experiences
  • Ability to network with other faculty and departments
