About The Position

The Cytogenetics Clinical Laboratory Director at Labcorp will oversee the main cytogenetics laboratory in Raleigh/Durham, NC, focusing on Prenatal, Postnatal, and Oncology Cytogenetics cases. This role involves reviewing assays, signing out patient reports, ensuring scientific quality, and assisting in operational troubleshooting. Requirements

• PhD and/or MD degree or equivalent (e.g., DO or DSc) is required.
• ABMGG board certification in Clinical Cytogenetics or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) or Active Candidate Status is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and establish effective working relationships.
• Commitment to professionalism, discretion, and integrity.

Nice To Haves

• 5 years of relevant clinical lab experience at the director level.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment.
• Prior experience across a broad range of testing modalities and sample types.
• Scholarly cytogenetics accomplishments with diagnostics expertise.
• Knowledge related to the implementation of emerging genomic technologies.

Responsibilities

• Review, interpret, and report patient results reliably and accurately.
• Sign out Cytogenetics reports on a daily basis.
• Provide consultation to healthcare professionals regarding test utilization and interpretation.
• Oversee adherence to technical procedures and assist in troubleshooting technical problems.
• Review patient files for accuracy and interpretation of data.
• Compose reports and review laboratory data for signoff.
• Communicate with referring physicians and clients as needed.
• Partner with supervisory team for effective specimen management through the laboratory.
• Facilitate interdepartmental workflow through collaboration with operations.
