The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II position at Christus Health involves performing a variety of laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, testing, and reporting results. Responsibilities

  • Performs all routine and complicated laboratory procedures in the assigned section.
  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Cross-trains to other laboratory sections as needed.
  • Follows the laboratory's quality control program.
  • Calculates, enters, and verifies results of laboratory procedures.
  • Utilizes the Laboratory Information System for documentation.
  • Processes patient specimens, ensuring minimal pediatric specimen volumes when required.
  • Participates in the evaluation and implementation of new testing procedures and protocols.
  • Adapts patient care methods to meet the unique needs of each patient served.
  • Completes all required compliance and regulatory tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • No experience required for graduates of an accredited clinical laboratory training program.
  • One year of approved clinical laboratory experience, including rotations in Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids.
  • Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS.
