About the position

Glens Falls Hospital is seeking Clinical Laboratory Technologists to perform various testing procedures on patient specimens, analyze results, and ensure compliance with health regulations. The role involves utilizing laboratory information systems, conducting quality control testing, and maintaining laboratory equipment while adhering to safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a variety of testing procedures on patient specimen samples according to physician orders.
  • Analyze test results to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.
  • Utilize the laboratory information system to report all test results in accordance with New York State Department of Health requirements.
  • Follow Standard Precautions while adhering to hospital and departmental safety policies and regulations.
  • Conduct quality control (QC) testing to ensure accuracy of clinical data.
  • Initiate SOPs when QC is out of limits and refer as indicated.
  • Verify/document instrument function by monitoring and calibrating specific instruments.
  • Perform and document routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.
  • Document any repairs, replacements, and maintenance needs of instruments or equipment.
  • Document and notify all 'critical test values' and 'call test values' to the appropriate floor/office and physician.
  • Evaluate current methodologies for accuracy and precision.
  • Perform phlebotomy related activities and process patient specimens, ensuring proper identification and pre/post-test handling requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Technology, or a closely related field.
  • One year of experience as Clinical or Medical Laboratory Technologist/Scientist (or similar title).
  • Must possess New York State License as Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
