About the position

The Clinical Manager for the Mother/Baby unit at Memorial Hermann Health System is responsible for leading the department, overseeing daily operations, managing and developing staff, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care. This role emphasizes the importance of safety, compassion, and efficiency in delivering care to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Mother/Baby department, ensuring adequate staffing and continuity of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, management team members, and business partners to address strategic initiatives and organizational goals.
  • Participate in ongoing evaluation of programs and process improvements to achieve desired client-centered outcomes.
  • Consider the diverse needs of patients throughout their care continuum, optimizing the patient experience.
  • Ensure adequate scheduling and staffing; recruit, retain, and develop departmental staff.
  • Provide performance feedback and input into staff performance reviews in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards, ensuring safe care to patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Promote professional growth and development by supporting continuing education and skills competency.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource to less experienced staff, modeling compassionate and personalized care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing or documented degree plan to complete the degree.
  • Current State of Texas nursing license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support.
  • Three or more years of experience in a clinical area of practice and a minimum of one year in a supervisory or management role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certification in clinical area or management preferred.
  • Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements.
