About the position

As a Clinical Manager, you will be responsible for the overall success of the Nursing Program's clinical placement through high-level planning, organization, and communication. This role requires an actively practicing nurse who is board-certified and proficient in all Microsoft products. You will need to maintain current relationships and build new ones with clinical sites, which will involve driving to various locations. Your duties will include overseeing all clinical sites daily, making on-site agency visits, and ensuring that students are supported during their clinical assignments. You will also coordinate clinical site selection, manage affiliation agreements, and create rotation schedules for the nursing program. In addition to administrative responsibilities, you will supervise clinical faculty performance, prepare incident reports, and provide input into faculty evaluations. You will be accountable for both theory and clinical instruction, academic advising, and evaluating student and course outcomes. Your role will also involve maintaining compliance with clinical documents and overseeing the submission of student health forms. You will need to analyze program schedules each term to plan clinical student assignments effectively. Furthermore, you will be expected to maintain positive public relations with clinical site personnel, ensure confidentiality, and track all site visits and mileage for reimbursement. This position requires a commitment to professional development, including attending conferences and staying current with the latest technology and requirements in nursing. You will also assist the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing in securing facilities for clinical rotations and maintaining relationships with clinical sites.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all clinical sites on a daily basis.
  • Make on-site agency visits and visit students on clinical assignments.
  • Coordinate clinical site selection, affiliation agreements, and rotation schedules for the nursing program.
  • Assist in updating records in the department student tracking system to ensure current active affiliations with clinical sites and preceptors are available to students.
  • Facilitate entry of information of agency and preceptor into the department student tracking system.
  • Oversee student information entered into the tracking system to ensure compliance with clinical documents required.
  • Supervise clinical faculty performance, including preparing incident reports and counseling reports for the Director of Nursing.
  • Provide input into faculty evaluations and ensure faculty presence in clinical sites per teaching assignments.
  • Cover for or arrange coverage for faculty absences from clinical assignments.
  • Assume responsibility for theory and clinical instruction, instructional counseling, academic advising, and evaluation of student and course outcomes.
  • Attend faculty meetings and department in-service meetings; serve on committees as requested.
  • Maintain expertise in area of specialty by attending conferences and keeping current on latest technology and requirements.
  • Oversee submission of student health forms and clearance.
  • Identify and resolve early problems related to the nursing program and clinical training site personnel.
  • Ensure nursing staff clocks in and out using ADP.
  • Analyze program schedule every term and plan clinical student assignments accordingly.
  • Research and prioritize prospective contractual sites for clinical placements.
  • Maintain positive public relations with clinical site personnel during contract negotiations and implementation phases.
  • Track all site visits and mileage for reimbursement.

Requirements

  • Must have been actively employed in nursing for the past two years, preferably in a supervisory or teaching role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required; Master's degree is preferred.
  • Three years of clinical management experience preferred, or advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration with relevant nursing employment.
  • Must maintain current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in patient care.
  • Effective in directing and evaluating student learning, laboratory performance, and clinical performance while providing patient care.
  • Must have a valid RN license and a valid CA driver's license with personal insurance coverage.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching is preferred (1 year).
  • Experience in administration is preferred (2 years).
