About the position
The Medical Lab Technician at Ochsner Health is responsible for receiving and preparing specimens, performing analytical laboratory tests, and ensuring quality control procedures are followed. This role requires adherence to standard protocols and procedures while working under general supervision. The technician will also perform phlebotomy procedures and maintain patient confidentiality, contributing to the overall mission of providing exceptional healthcare services.
Responsibilities
- Receive and prepare specimens according to standard protocols and procedures.
- Perform analytical laboratory tests and calculations according to section requirements and protocols.
- Conduct quality control procedures required for test performance.
- Calibrate, maintain, and monitor laboratory equipment.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures as appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient-related information.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or military MLT certificate.
- ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification as Medical Lab Technician.
