About The Position

The Regional Physicist at Mayo Clinic is responsible for verifying, documenting, and maintaining all information related to the calculation and delivery of radiation doses to patients. This role involves analyzing and evaluating equipment performance, providing technical assistance and clinical support, and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines. The position offers opportunities for collaboration with a team of physicists and engagement with various disease site and technology experts, all while working in a supportive and innovative environment.

Requirements

• M.S., M.M.P., D.M.P., or Ph.D. in Medical Physics or a master's and/or doctoral degree in Physics or a related field.
• Completion of a CAMPEP accredited residency in Therapeutic Medical Physics.
• Credentialing in all relevant procedures practiced at the regional clinic.

Responsibilities

• Verify, document, and maintain information used in the calculation and delivery of radiation doses to patients.
• Analyze and evaluate equipment performance used in radiation therapy delivery.
• Provide technical assistance and clinical support to Consultant staff and Allied health personnel as needed.
• Provide cross-coverage to other regional sites, including travel as staffing warrants.
• Remain current in all treatment techniques and applicable medical physics practices relevant to the regional site.
• Provide instruction to residents, dosimetry staff, therapy staff, and pre- and postdoctoral students.
• Develop and perform quality assurance procedures and monitor radiation output, mechanical integrity, and safety of equipment used in radiation therapy.
• Stay updated on Federal, State, and Institutional safety guidelines applicable at the regional site.
