About the position

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) for the Emergency Department at Medical City Dallas is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and coordinating all functions within the unit during designated shifts. This role involves collaboration with management to direct, monitor, and evaluate nursing care, while also serving as a resource for staff and supporting the organization's mission to enhance patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
  • Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
  • Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.
  • Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff.
  • Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions.
  • Assists with staff scheduling and manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
  • Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from Texas Board of Nurse Examiners (Compact license accepted).
  • BSN required.
  • Current BLS- Healthcare Provider issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
  • One year Acute Care Experience required, two years of ED Experience required.
  • Certification in specialty required within 1 year.
  • Completion of charge nurse course required within one year.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course must be obtained within 18 months of employment start date.
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 18 months of employment start date.
