About the position

The Clinical Nurse at Duke Health Integrated Practice plays a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care at the Heritage location in Wake Forest, NC. This position involves planning, documenting, and delivering nursing care in accordance with physician orders and established procedures, while also serving as a charge nurse to supervise clinical staff and ensure high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, provide and document nursing care at Harris and Smith OB-GYN according to physician orders and established procedures.
  • Provide triage services to patients via telephone and MyChart messages, obtaining and clarifying patient information.
  • Assess and communicate accurate patient information to physicians to ensure appropriate care.
  • Complete triage documentation in the EMR and send prescription refills per physician approval.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on prenatal care, postoperative care, medication education, and general health issues.
  • Perform necessary in-clinic testing of patient samples using lab equipment such as Clintec and Hemocue.
  • Assist providers during in-office procedures and collect and analyze patient data.
  • Evaluate nursing care provided and document outcomes and patient responses.
  • Serve as charge nurse by delegating tasks and supervising other clinical staff activities.
  • Identify improvement opportunities for clinical, operational, and safety-related performance.
  • Maintain required competencies for education and seek appropriate assistance or educational offerings.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing must enroll in a BSN program within two years and complete it within five years.
  • 12 months of appropriate clinical experience is required; 6 months may be acceptable for exceptional performers at manager's discretion.
  • Obstetrics and/or gynecology experience preferred.
  • Current RN license in the State of North Carolina is required.
  • BLS certification is required.
