About the position

The Clinical Nurse Educator III in the Emergency Department at Sutter Health is responsible for coordinating and performing educational activities that enhance the competency and development of nursing staff. This role involves assessing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating nursing educational programs in response to healthcare demands and regulatory standards. The educator will design and deliver educational offerings, conduct competency assessments, and maintain compliance with various healthcare standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform educational activities for nursing staff.
• Assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate nursing educational programs.
• Design educational offerings using adult education principles.
• Direct the delivery of education for nursing orientation and competency assessments.
• Facilitate ongoing development and establish courses based on needs assessments.
• Maintain educational and competency records in compliance with standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in California or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification.
• 5 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
• 5 years of experience as a clinical educator or documented teaching effectiveness.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of electronic healthcare records (EHR) management software.
• Experience with program assessment and design.
• Familiarity with the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses.
