About The Position

The Inpatient Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Educator is a specialized nursing role focused on the professional development of nurses and healthcare personnel. This position encompasses various responsibilities including mentoring, facilitating learning, and advocating for the clinical nurse educator specialty. The educator will utilize adult learning theories and evidence-based practices to enhance clinical nursing practices and support role transitions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current MA RN Licensure.
  • MSN required.
  • Minimum of 5 years as an inpatient psychiatric nurse preceptor, clinical leader, charge nurse, or educator.
  • Advanced skills in psychiatric nursing practice including restraint reduction and clinical supervision.
  • Current AHA certification in BLS required; AHA Instructor BLS strongly preferred.
  • Certified ANCC in Nursing Professional Development strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate professional role development and growth of nurses and healthcare personnel.
  • Develop and implement DMH required programming including Restraint Reduction and Trauma Informed Care.
  • Assess educational needs and identify issues and trends in nursing practice.
  • Develop measurable outcomes reflecting competence and learning changes.
  • Prepare educational content using adult learning theory and evidence-based practices.
  • Create a positive learning environment bridging academia and clinical practice.
  • Evaluate learning activities and revise based on reliable methods and outcomes.
  • Champion scientific inquiry and integrate evidence into clinical practice.
  • Act as a change agent by developing educational programs and implementing change strategies.
  • Provide leadership in nursing practice competency development and academic partnerships.
