About the position

The Clinical Nurse in the Medical-Surgical unit is responsible for providing compassionate care to patients and their families while collaborating with the nursing team to develop and implement patient care plans. This role involves administering medications, performing treatments, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, all while maintaining a supportive environment for colleagues and patients alike.

Responsibilities

• Implements physician orders and administers medications.
• Starts IVs and performs treatments, procedures, and special tests.
• Documents treatment as required by company policy and regulations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions.
• Assesses and evaluates patient needs and responses to care.
• Applies sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
• Provides primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
• Directs and guides ancillary personnel and maintains standards of professional nursing.

Requirements

• Graduate of a professional academic nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree).
• Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care.
• Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools.
