About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Vascular Interventional Radiology Unit (VIR) at Albany Medical Center is a full-time role focused on providing peri-procedural nursing care to both outpatients and inpatients undergoing Interventional Radiology procedures. The position offers flexible scheduling options, including three 12-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts, with no weekend or holiday requirements once the unit is fully staffed. The RN will be responsible for administering conscious sedation, monitoring hemodynamics, and managing critical care patients, among other duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide peri-procedural nursing care for outpatients and inpatients needing Interventional Radiology procedures.
• Administer conscious sedation and monitor hemodynamics.
• Manage vented and critical care patients during procedures.
• Oversee Phase 1 anesthesia recovery for pediatric and adult patients.
• Access and utilize central venous devices as needed.
• Implement physician orders and administer medications as required.
• Start IVs and perform treatments, procedures, and special tests.
• Document treatment in accordance with company policy and regulations.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
• Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care.
• Provide primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses.
• Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
• Direct and guide ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.

Requirements

• Associates Degree in Nursing required.
• 1-3 years of RN experience required.
• Current NYS Registered Nurse license is mandatory.
• Critical care experience with ACLS and/or PALS certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Pediatric experience preferred.
