About the position

The Clinical Nurse in the Vascular Surgery Unit at Albany Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care to patients with vascular diseases and other surgical needs. This position involves implementing physician orders, administering medications, and collaborating with the nursing team to develop comprehensive care plans for patients. The nurse will work primarily during night shifts and will be responsible for managing a diverse patient population, ensuring high standards of care and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Implement physician orders and administer medications.
  • Start IVs and perform treatments, procedures, and special tests.
  • Document treatment as required by company policy and regulations.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care.
  • Provide primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
  • Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain professional nursing standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a professional academic nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree).
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care.
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools.
