About the position

The Clinical Nurse (RN) at Barbara Bush Children's Hospital Float Pool is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care in alignment with Maine Medical Center's mission and values. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, diagnosis, care planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care across various settings, including inpatient and outpatient environments. The Clinical Nurse is expected to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and a healing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient assessments and document findings accurately.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and modify care plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families regarding health management.
  • Maintain compliance with nursing standards and regulations set by the Maine State Board of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year of hire and complete within 5 years.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine.
  • At least 1 year of prior RN work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of nursing research, theory, and practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Analytical skills to identify changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate actions.
  • Ability to manage potential crisis situations involving patients and families.
  • Demonstrated caring nursing practice and ability to promote a healing environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in relevant specialty preferred.
  • Evidence of ongoing education (10 hours per year).
