About the position

The Clinical Nurse (RN) at Stanford Health Care provides hands-on care to patients in an outpatient surgery center, practicing within the California Nursing Practice Act and hospital policies. This role involves assessing patients, planning and implementing care, coordinating with other healthcare providers, and educating patients and their families. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for their professional development and contributes to the nursing profession through teaching and sharing expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families to provide emotional support and information.
  • Obtain and interpret assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and monitor patient stability.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing and medical interventions and monitor for adverse responses.
  • Assess learning needs of patients and families, providing education for self-care and illness prevention.
  • Teach other staff members through formal and informal roles, enhancing their knowledge and skills.
  • Respond quickly to rapidly changing situations and activate emergency protocols as needed.
  • Monitor practices related to patient and employee safety and compliance with standards and policies.
  • Integrate multiple work expectations by setting priorities and delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Demonstrate leadership in the professional practice setting and evaluate nursing practice against standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Current RN license in California or Compact State Nurse License.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support certification required.
  • ACLS certification may be required by the cost center.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
