About the position

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Redlands Community Hospital is a part-time role that requires advanced nursing expertise and leadership. The CNS is responsible for ensuring high standards of nursing care, mentoring staff, and collaborating with hospital leadership to enhance patient care quality. Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and clinical expertise in the NICU.
  • Ensure nursing care meets professional standards and regulations.
  • Serve as a clinical expert and mentor for nursing staff.
  • Participate in the development of orientation programs and clinical mentoring.
  • Promote continuity and quality of care through data and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership and staff to enhance patient care.
  • Follow hospital policies and procedures while adhering to the Patients First philosophy.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing or Clinical Nurse Specialist program required.
  • Doctorate of Nursing preferred.
  • Four years of experience in acute care nursing with two years in specialty area required.
  • Current California State RN license required.
  • Current California State Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Current NRP certification required; instructor certification preferred.
  • National Certification in area of expertise (RNC-NIC or CCRN) preferred.
  • STABLE certification required; instructor certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer (Word, Excel, and e-mail functions) required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years' experience with program/course design, presentation, and evaluation preferred.
