About the position

The Clinical Operations Specialist position at the University of North Texas Health Science Center involves coordinating and supervising clinical operations for UNTHSC's Comprehensive Medical Services. The role includes assisting with contracts with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and supporting various projects within the Correctional Medicine Department. The specialist will provide clinical and administrative support to meet contract performance requirements and enhance the relationship between UNTHSC and the BOP.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate clinical scheduling for a broad spectrum of clinical specialties.
  • Perform clinical triaging of referral packages from the BOP, including reviewing inmate patient history and medical record documentation.
  • Communicate appropriate instructions and recommended treatment plans.
  • Retrieve appropriate medical records and accurately coordinate inmate patient appointments.
  • Utilize electronic scheduling and health record systems to schedule appointments and document reports.
  • Facilitate timely retrieval and reporting of medical record reports for completed specialty appointments.
  • Provide clinical operations support for BOP Health Services Staff and Correctional Network Providers.
  • Establish and maintain communication with all clinical operations and administrative support areas.
  • Participate in Clinical Operations Meetings and other special meetings related to contracts.
  • Support the missions and goals of UNTHSC and UNT Health.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated clinical office experience, including clinical scheduling for multi-specialty group practice.
  • Ability to review and assess specialty referrals and coordinate clinical scheduling.
  • Computer literate and technologically competent in written and electronic communication.
  • Knowledge of clinical scheduling software, electronic medical record systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to pass and maintain necessary security clearance.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in providing administrative support for a healthcare business office.
  • At least two (2) years of demonstrated experience with various specialty services in a multispecialty group practice.
