About the position

The University at Buffalo's Department of Pediatrics is seeking candidates for the position of Clinical or Research Assistant/Associate Professor in the Division of Neonatology. This role is available in both tenure and non-tenure tracks, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a leading academic institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing outstanding clinical care in the 64-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at John R. Oishei Children's Hospital, as well as in the 10-bed Level II NICU at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. This position also emphasizes the importance of productivity in program development, ensuring that the highest standards of care are maintained. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role includes teaching duties that involve the clinical education of medical students, residents, and fellows. The candidate will have opportunities for formal lectures within the Division and Department, as well as the chance to develop innovative teaching materials and curricula while mentoring junior faculty. Candidates are expected to demonstrate continued excellence in clinical practice, showcasing innovative accomplishments in care delivery, clinical productivity, and quality improvement initiatives. An identifiable area of special expertise is also required. Research responsibilities will focus on the development of a clinical and translational research program that investigates modulators of metabolic function in fetal and postnatal growth. This aspect of the role is crucial for advancing the field of neonatology and contributing to the body of knowledge that supports improved patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding clinical care in the Level IV NICU and Level II NICU.

Requirements

  • MD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree
  • Board certified in Pediatrics
  • Board certified/eligible in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics
  • Demonstrate excellent qualifications in education, clinical care, and/or research.
