About the position

The Hospital is seeking a full-time Clinical Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team. The Clinical Pharmacist performs both clinical and distributive tasks that are essential to ensuring that the patient's medication therapy is safe, effective, timely, and efficient. This role requires close collaboration with medical and nursing staff, patients, and all health system personnel to provide high-quality pharmaceutical care. In this position, the Clinical Pharmacist will engage in daily rounding with the interdisciplinary team, providing patient care in a rural practice setting to a diverse population that includes medical, surgical, and ambulatory patients. The pharmacist will practice through delegation protocols, which encompass anticoagulation management, pharmacokinetic monitoring, renal dosing, electrolyte management, and antimicrobial stewardship. Additionally, the pharmacist will be responsible for verifying chemotherapy orders and supporting the outpatient oncology/infusion center. The Clinical Pharmacist will also provide clinical, analytical, and technical expertise to aid in the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of pharmacy systems and the electronic medical record. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and participation in committees and task forces are also key components of this role, ensuring that the pharmacy services align with the overall goals of the health system.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Valid, unrestricted Wisconsin pharmacist license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Ability to practice pharmacy with integrity towards coworkers and patients.
  • Ability to maintain professional competency through continuing professional development.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to listen empathetically.
  • Ability to logically organize details.
  • Ability to make judgments in demanding situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.
  • Ability to mentor and supervise pharmacy technicians and students.
  • Ability to learn computer and application skills as applicable to the role and possess proficiency with Excel.
  • Ability to use and assist in the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of all pharmacy systems.
