The University at Buffalo School of Nursing (SON) invites applications for a clinical faculty position to lead the development of a new curriculum for a nursing midwifery program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME). This is a half-time (12-month) appointment. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) accredited Midwifery program that leads to certification as a midwife (CNM). This includes facilitating the approval process through the School of Nursing, University, SUNY/NYS levels, and ACME. The role requires designing courses, establishing program objectives, and preparing syllabi to implement a DNP midwifery program that meets state and ACME standards. In addition to curriculum development, the faculty member will lead, plan, develop, and implement evidence-based, innovative, and interactive learning experiences for adult learners across classroom and clinical learning environments for Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), post-masters (DNP), and/or BS to DNP pathways. The position also involves fostering scholarship among new midwifery faculty, with expectations to publish, present, and disseminate scholarship/research regionally, nationally, and globally. The faculty member will maintain standards of clinical excellence/practice and adhere to ethical and woman-centered professional standards of midwifery practice. Collaboration is key in this role, as the faculty member will work with faculty and community partners to plan, design, implement, and lead classroom, laboratory/simulated, and community-based practice student learning experiences. Establishing collaborative and positive working relationships that respect the dignity, worth, and culture of students, faculty, staff, and interdisciplinary teams is essential. The faculty member will also serve as a mentor and professional role model, facilitating the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning experiences. The position requires compliance with State, University, Clinical Agency, and professional regulations/requirements to establish the midwifery program. The University at Buffalo is committed to developing an excellent and diverse community of scholars and students engaged in education, research, and service, and encourages applications from members of historically marginalized groups, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
