About the position

The University of Miami's Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, is seeking a Clinical Program Coordinator to play a pivotal role in the development, organization, production, and evaluation of various health promotion and educational programs for patients within the assigned unit. This position is integral to the daily operations of the program, ensuring that activities align with the University’s mission and objectives. The Clinical Program Coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring the financial performance of these programs, assisting in both short- and long-range budgetary planning to meet departmental goals. In this role, the Clinical Program Coordinator will evaluate program effectiveness by analyzing results and recommending appropriate actions based on findings. Coordination of program activities with other departments and staff is essential to ensure optimum efficiency. The Coordinator will also be tasked with training, developing, and empowering staff to perform their roles effectively. As a primary point of contact for project funders, advisors, speakers, and participants, the Coordinator will recruit program participants, members, and volunteers, fostering cooperative relationships with patients and families by projecting a positive image and creating a professional atmosphere. The position involves developing program communications and promotional materials, such as newsletters, brochures, and flyers, and preparing periodic reports and financial statements for management or external agencies. Maintaining patient confidentiality and safeguarding hospital business information is crucial. The Coordinator will oversee the maintenance of supply levels in the unit and supply rooms, adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures. Specific responsibilities include planning, preparing, and implementing programs, including a mobile unit/clinic aimed at reaching targeted populations for general wellness screenings, including HIV and STD testing. The role may involve developing and delivering screening questionnaires, counseling individuals regarding risk and recommended screenings, performing HIV testing in community outreach settings, and ensuring linkage to care and continuity for sexual health and wellness services, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Additionally, the Coordinator may assist in coordinating and implementing educational programs for clients and providers regarding HIV testing and prevention. This list of duties is not exhaustive and may expand to include other responsibilities as necessary.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Certification to perform HIV testing or willingness to receive this certification.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish or English-Haitian Creole) preferred.
