About the position

The Clinical Programmer - Laboratory at USA Health is responsible for designing, building, configuring, installing, and maintaining enterprise software, particularly focusing on Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. This role involves utilizing the Agile project management lifecycle to manage programming activities and ensure the effective implementation of software solutions that enhance medical care and research in the Gulf Coast region.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, configure, install, and maintain enterprise software and area-specific software.
  • Work with Electronic Health Records (EHR) software and other programming duties, including C+ custom applications.
  • Research, design, implement, and manage software programs.
  • Test and evaluate new programs, identifying areas for modification in existing programs.
  • Write and implement efficient code, determining operational practicality.
  • Develop quality assurance procedures and software tools, processes, and metrics.
  • Maintain and upgrade existing systems, developing training materials and training users as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with other IT staff, clinical staff, and administration.
  • Adhere to University and Health System policies, including confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and maintain regular attendance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institution or high school diploma with eight years of related experience.
  • Four years of related professional experience in information technology.
  • Registry eligible with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Scientist.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Cerner, AthenaHealth, and/or Philips EHR systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies.
