About the position

The Clinical Programmer - Pharmacy at USA Health is responsible for designing, building, configuring, installing, and maintaining enterprise software, particularly focusing on Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. This role involves working with various software applications, utilizing the Agile project management lifecycle, and ensuring compliance with health system policies, including HIPAA. The programmer will collaborate with IT and clinical staff to enhance software functionality and user training.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, configure, install, and maintain enterprise software and EHR systems.
  • Research, design, implement, and manage software programs.
  • Test and evaluate new programs and identify areas for modification in existing programs.
  • Write and implement efficient code and develop quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintain and upgrade existing systems and develop training materials for users.
  • Work closely with IT staff, clinical staff, and administration to ensure software meets operational needs.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and adhere to confidentiality and HIPAA policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a directly related field.
  • One year of experience as a hospital pharmacy technician or five years as a certified pharmacy technician, including one year in a hospital setting.
  • Current registry with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • National certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with eight years of related experience in information technology.
