About the position

The Clinical Psychologist (Specialty Program Coordinator - Challenge) position within the Department of Justice is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating specialty treatment programs for incarcerated individuals. This role involves conducting psychological assessments, providing individual and group psychotherapy, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to address the psychological needs of the population served. The position emphasizes maintaining security within the correctional environment while fostering rehabilitation and successful reentry into the community.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the specialty treatment program.
• Administer, score, and interpret psychological testing instruments and procedures.
• Plan and perform individual and group psychotherapy on a regular basis.
• Conduct interviews and crisis intervention sessions.
• Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary unit team to assess program needs and goals.
• Design individual treatment plans and coordinate residential and non-residential treatment programs.
• Utilize various treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy and crisis intervention.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Satisfactory completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in clinical or counseling psychology.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) for GS-12 and GS-13 positions.
• Possession of a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state or territory.

Nice-to-haves
