About the position

The Clinical Quality Analyst role at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center focuses on the abstraction and validation of clinical data to ensure compliance with quality patient outcomes. This position serves as a resource for accreditation standards, coordinates accreditation activities, and trains medical staff on database requirements. The analyst will also assist in implementing best practices for database compliance and address customer concerns related to the quality of medical care and service.

Responsibilities

  • Abstract clinical data elements accurately and timely.
  • Report, manage, document, and track data and trends.
  • Assist in the improvement process by verifying the accuracy of abstracted data.
  • Train and educate nursing and medical staff in database requirements.
  • Create reports, queries, and programs to support data gathering and monitoring.
  • Develop and manage process improvement initiatives including detailed data analysis and report generation.
  • Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews to identify opportunities for improvement in patient care delivery.
  • Review and respond to customer complaints related to quality of medical care and service.
  • Serve as a resource regarding accreditation standards and coordinate accreditation activities.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory/accrediting body requirements and recommend adjustments to the quality plan.
  • Complete projects as assigned and provide backup support to the quality team.

Requirements

  • A degree in RHIT, healthcare informatics, computer sciences, data sciences, nursing, or other healthcare degree required.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting or a degree in a healthcare field is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of prior project management experience, leadership, or project oversight required.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and knowledge of information systems and comparative databases.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience with Epic/Excellian, QualityNet, MHA, and other database reporting preferred.
  • Certification in clinical informatics, project/program management, and/or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
