About the position

The Clinical Research Assistant 2 position at Oregon Health & Science University is a vital role within the Department of Pediatrics, focusing on supporting clinical, administrative, and educational research activities related to both new and ongoing studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving recruitment goals, managing the consenting process, and maintaining regular follow-up with study participants through both phone and in-person interactions. This ensures that all protocol procedures are completed effectively and efficiently. The role also involves the collection, processing, and storage of biospecimens, as well as data entry and the shipment of samples. Flexibility is essential, as the candidate will need to accommodate participant schedules to facilitate their involvement in the studies. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Clinical Research Assistant 2 may also engage in social media maintenance, supply ordering, and shipping of supplies. Establishing a good rapport with study subjects is crucial, and the candidate must demonstrate appropriate sensitivity and tact, especially when dealing with challenging subjects. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively within a research team to ensure the success of clinical trials and research protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Complete recruitment goals and manage the consenting process.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with study participants via phone and in-person to ensure completion of all protocol procedures.
  • Collect, process, and store biospecimens.
  • Perform data entry and shipment of samples.
  • Maintain flexibility to accommodate participant schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field OR Associate's degree with 2 years of relevant experience OR 3 years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience in creating templates.
  • Experience with patient populations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (MS Excel, MS Word).
  • Experience with electronic medical records (Epic and/or other clinical systems).

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • LPN or RN license preferred.
  • Healthcare-related experience.
  • Experience with clinical trials or research protocols.
  • Experience in maternal and child health care.
  • Experience with PowerPoint and electronic databases.
