About the position

The Clinical Research Coordinator I at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is responsible for coordinating clinical studies within the Immunology/Rheumatology department. This role involves supporting the research team in various aspects of the study life cycle, ensuring compliance with protocols and regulations, and facilitating patient interactions throughout the research process.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to team members within the protocol confines.
  • Support screening and participant eligibility determination, ensuring compliance with protocols.
  • Conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, including data collection, participant recruitment, and follow-up.
  • Help with patient screening, enrollment, follow-up, and completion of study procedures.
  • Act as a liaison with medical staff and various departments.
  • Assist in patient enrollment planning and conduct quality assurance activities.
  • Develop and implement procedures, maintain records, and track study progress.
  • Coordinate patient care and follow-up functions of the clinical study.
  • Arrange access to study medications and manage investigational products (IP).
  • Prepare and submit research documentation, including IRB and FDA submissions.
  • Assist with launching a large multi-site clinical trial and prepare scientific reports.
  • Compile data and assist in developing study budgets and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Track study progress and assist with regulatory submissions.
  • Attend study meetings and assist with the preparation of study reports.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Functional expertise in clinical and scientific environments is preferred.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Clinical decision-making and assessment skills are beneficial.
