About the position

The Clinical Research Data Analyst at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine plays a crucial role in the analysis and transformation of clinical data sourced from both internal and external healthcare systems. This position is integral to the Department of Clinical and Translational Sciences, specifically within the Division of Clinical Informatics, and is supported by various grant funding sources such as NIH, CTSA, and COBRE. The analyst will be responsible for ingesting, analyzing, and transforming clinical data to provide insightful analyses or to share this data with other stakeholders. The role requires interaction with healthcare systems like Cerner and HealtheIntent, necessitating a strong understanding of these platforms. The analyst will work with diverse data formats, including Excel, CSV, and MS SQL, and will leverage tools such as SSAS and SSIS to manipulate and analyze data effectively. A solid foundation in medical knowledge is essential, as the analyst will interpret laboratory findings, physical signs, and symptoms from medical charts to support clinical research projects. Responsibilities

  • Ingest and analyze clinical data from various internal and external sources.
  • Transform and manipulate clinical data to provide insightful analysis.
  • Interact with healthcare systems such as Cerner and HealtheIntent.
  • Work with multiple data formats including Excel, CSV, and MS SQL.
  • Utilize SSAS and SSIS for data analysis and transformation.
  • Interpret laboratory findings and other medical information from charts.
  • Analyze user requirements requested by medical researchers.
  • Utilize tools such as REDCap, Tableau, and other visualization tools for data reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Computer Science, Public Health, Informatics, or a related field.
  • Experience managing clinical research projects using MS SQL.
  • Strong ability to interpret laboratory findings and medical charts.
  • Understanding of Relational Databases and Data Warehouses.
  • Knowledge of medical coding (CPT9/10, ICD).
  • Experience with SSAS, SSIS, REDCap, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.
  • Ability to analyze user requirements from medical researchers.
  • Proficiency in using systems and tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working under high pressure while maintaining quality standards.

  • High proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
