About the position

The Clinical Research Finance Coordinator I plays a crucial role in developing clinical trial budgets for various research initiatives, including industry-sponsored trials, NIH projects, and investigator-initiated studies. This position involves evaluating research protocols to assess resource needs, negotiating budgets, and ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations. The coordinator is responsible for monitoring accounts, invoicing, and providing financial analysis to support the research process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop clinical trial budgets for industry, NIH, and investigator-initiated research.
  • Evaluate research protocols to assess resource needs and costs.
  • Process Ancillary Agreements with departments providing research services.
  • Identify and classify expenses as standard-of-care or research-related costs.
  • Negotiate trial budgets and payments with industry sponsors.
  • Monitor study accounts for appropriate expenses and reconcile accounts receivable.
  • Conduct reviews and audits of clinical trial budgets as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for fiscal-related questions.
  • Responsible for invoicing sponsors and tracking payments.
  • Extract and analyze data to determine financial performance and project financial probabilities.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to investigators and management.
  • Enter financial information into the Clinical Trial Management System.
  • Review clinical trial calendars for agreement with Medicare coverage analysis.
  • Perform Medicare coverage analysis for clinical trials and collaborate with IRB for approvals.
  • Review protocol amendments for impact on budgets and process amendments as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • One year of experience in billing, accounting, finance, budgeting, or financial analysis preferred.
  • Certification in Clinical Research preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with clinical trial budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with regulatory bodies such as the FDA and IRB.
