About the position

The Clinical Research Financial Analyst position at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of clinical trials. This role requires expertise in healthcare operations and clinical research business functions, focusing on budget development, negotiation, and monitoring of financial transactions to ensure compliance. The position involves collaboration with research teams and requires strong analytical skills to manage tasks with competing deadlines throughout the trial lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate Clinical Trial protocols to assess resource needs and costs.
  • Consult with Investigators and Clinical Trial Research team to develop Clinical Trial budgets.
  • Negotiate Clinical Trial budgets and payment terms with Industry sponsors.
  • Review and analyze financial and contractual language in the Informed Consent Form.
  • Monitor study accounts to evaluate income and expenses, and reconcile accounts receivable and payments.
  • Responsible for invoicing sponsors and tracking payments.
  • Extract and analyze data to determine financial performance and make recommendations.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to investigators and management.
  • Plan and coordinate strategies to improve budgeting and Clinical Trial finances.
  • Identify quality and performance improvement opportunities and collaborate on action plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Science, or Nursing (RN) or equivalent experience.
  • 1-5 years of experience in billing, accounting, finance, budgeting, or financial analysis depending on the level.
  • Experience with clinical research pre and/or post contract funding and/or grant experience is preferred for higher levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
