About the position

The Clinical Research Specialist II position at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System involves conducting research assessments for clinical trials focused on PTSD treatment. The role supports the Center for Veterans Research and Education's mission to enhance the health and well-being of Veterans through innovative research and education initiatives. The specialist will engage in various study activities, including patient assessments and safety protocol implementation, while contributing to a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research study assessments over the telephone, in accordance with research protocols.
• Assessments include Clinician Administered PTSD Scale for DSM 5 (CAPS-5), Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 (SCID-5), and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA).
• Assess patient safety and initiate safety protocol as needed.
• Participate in training and supervision on the delivery of clinician-administered measures.
• Assist in reliability rating.
• Participate in other related study activities (e.g., recruitment of participants).
• Perform complex tasks, coordinate processes, and get involved in decision-making.
• Other duties assigned.

Requirements

• Master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology or related field (e.g., social work).
• Prior training/experience administering clinical and/or diagnostic interviews.
• Experience interviewing individuals with mental health diagnosis.

Nice-to-haves

• Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology or related field.
• Prior training and/or experience administering structured clinical interviews.
• Knowledge of DSM-5 criteria for PTSD.
• Experience assessing suicidal ideation and intent and carrying out safety plans.
