About the position

The Clinical Services Specialist - RN at Brookdale Senior Living is a travel nursing position that provides clinical leadership and support to senior living communities across North Carolina. This role involves managing healthcare operations, supervising nursing staff, and ensuring quality care for residents. The position requires overnight travel and offers opportunities for professional development and career growth within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day healthcare operations of the community to ensure residents' healthcare needs are met.
  • Supervise licensed nurses and other direct care staff within the community.
  • Oversee and validate all resident care to ensure compliance with physician orders, care plans, and regulations.
  • Strengthen clinical processes within the community until a replacement is identified.
  • Travel within the division to support management vacancies and start-ups.
  • Directly supervise community-based licensed nursing staff, CNAs, and Med Techs/CMAs.
  • Assign and direct work of subordinates, appraise performance, and address complaints.
  • Provide training and education to resident care associates on medication administration and care procedures.
  • Supervise the maintenance of resident charts and review documentation by caregiving staff.
  • Assess the health and psycho-social status of residents and initiate individualized service plans.
  • Manage the health care of residents and disseminate information to families and associates.
  • Participate in pre-admission screening of prospective new residents and ensure documentation is completed.
  • Perform ongoing assessments of residents' needs and coordinate with other departments for care.
  • Evaluate residents, document changes in condition, and notify relevant parties.
  • Facilitate continuity of care for residents receiving home health care and other services.
  • Participate in or lead meetings relevant to resident care issues.
  • Ensure in-house ancillary medical services are scheduled and followed through.
  • Participate in department quality improvement activities.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for associates and residents.
  • Share on-call and manager-on-duty responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • RN license required.
  • Five years of skilled nursing experience as a Director of Nursing (DON) or District/Regional Nurse Consultant required.
  • Education as required to obtain state nursing license (RN).
  • Certification in Infection Prevention/Control and RAI process preferred.
  • Basic typing skills and knowledge of personal computing and word processing software, preferably in a Microsoft Windows environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in assisted living, memory care, nursing home, or skilled nursing facility (SNF) preferred.
