About the position

The Department of State Hospitals, Metropolitan State Hospital is currently accepting applications for Clinical Social Worker-Training and Internship Coordinator (Permanent/Fulltime). The Clinical Social Worker (CSW) - Training and Internship Coordinator identifies and develops key competencies to help Metropolitan State Hospital (MSH) social workers professionally excel. In collaboration with the Chief of Social Work and Supervising Psychiatric Social Workers, the Training and Internship Coordinator will identify activities, training/education needs, resources, and programs (formal and informal) which help social workers internalize their responsibilities, develop required skills and competencies necessary to accomplish institutional and divisional goals, and grow professionally. Primary duties will also involve coordination of the MSH Social Work internship program, including intern supervision, oversight of field instructors/preceptors, and communication with university affiliates.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop key competencies for social workers.
• Collaborate with the Chief of Social Work and Supervising Psychiatric Social Workers.
• Identify training and education needs for social workers.
• Coordinate the MSH Social Work internship program.
• Supervise interns and oversee field instructors/preceptors.
• Communicate with university affiliates regarding internship programs.

Requirements

• Eligibility by way of permanent civil service status, reachable on an employment list, transfer eligibility, or reinstatement eligibility.
• CA LCSW or ACSW License required.
• Completion of Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited school.

Nice-to-haves

• One year of work experience as a Clinical Social Worker in a mental health or correctional facility.
