About the position

The Clinical Specialist at REM Community Services plays a vital role in providing community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position focuses on delivering support in residential, vocational, or in-home settings, ensuring adherence to individual support plans and regulatory requirements. The Clinical Specialist will engage with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to advocate for the rights of individuals and implement behavior support plans, contributing to a mission-driven environment that prioritizes the well-being of those served.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services in residential, vocational, or in-home settings.
  • Ensure support plans and services adhere to Individual Plans, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete structured assessment interviews with parents/care providers.
  • Conduct observations of individuals in appropriate settings such as home, school, or community.
  • Review social history information and complete functional assessments.
  • Write and submit summaries of assessments and recommended behavior support plans to the interdisciplinary team or operations leader.
  • Advocate for the human and civil rights of individuals receiving services by attending and presenting behavior support plan information to review committees.
  • Document progress and activity, review records and logs, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain healthy and professional relationships with individuals, families, and case managers.
  • Report any instances of alleged abuse or neglect according to standards.
  • Support and train staff in implementing Individual Support Plans and conduct classes as assigned.
  • Assist with socialization, behavioral development, personal care, and other activities of daily living as needed.
  • May accompany individuals to medical appointments and relay instructions from medical providers.
  • If assigned, accurately administer and document delivery of medications and treatments.
  • Monitor individuals' health and communicate concerns with appropriate personnel.
  • Transport individuals into the community safely and report any safety concerns immediately.
  • Participate in safety drills and comply with all established safety policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a human services field.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Training in behavior modification techniques and/or experience providing behavior management treatment as required by state or program funder.
  • Knowledge of specialized populations such as individuals with developmental disabilities, brain injury, or mental health.
  • Reliable, responsible, and caring nature with the ability to work well with others.
  • Commitment to the company's mission and values.
  • Current driver's license, car registration, and auto insurance if providing transportation.
  • All state-required training and certification completed in mandated timeframes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in crisis intervention or early intervention.
  • Expertise in behavioral support techniques.
