About the position

The Clinical Supervisor position at Iona University is a part-time role within the Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic, part of the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department. The supervisor will oversee undergraduate and graduate SLP students, ensuring adherence to professional standards and protocols while providing direct clinical supervision and client care. This role emphasizes mentoring, clinical instruction, and administrative responsibilities to support student development and compliance with ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and orientation meetings for clinical preparation, including administrative tasks and student clinical requirements.
  • Provide direct clinical supervision and professional responsibility for screening and diagnostic evaluations of clients.
  • Supervise design and treatment sessions, ensuring adherence to clinic protocols and ethical standards.
  • Deliver direct client services for therapy and evaluation demonstration, especially during student absences.
  • Mentor students to develop their clinical knowledge and skills, following ASHA's supervisory guidelines.
  • Review clinical reporting and provide feedback for professional writing development.
  • Support students with verbal reporting and client-related interactions.
  • Maintain full responsibility for client records and EMR charting.
  • Provide constructive clinical performance feedback for midterm and final evaluations.
  • Submit clinical grades to course instructors and maintain accurate student records on Calipso.
  • Assist the Director with administrative tasks and participate in clinical staff meetings.
  • Conduct workshops for students and generate new therapy programs.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • New York State Licensure
  • ASHA Membership in Speech-Language Pathology
  • TSSLD or TSHH as appropriate
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of clinical experience
  • Maintenance of professional liability
