About the position

Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services (DOCS), the Clinical Supervisor will assist with the triage of patients on-site and via telephone utilizing approved protocols or standing orders. The Clinical Supervisor helps to facilitate patient care and clinic flow in the clinical environment. The Clinical Supervisor may be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas. The Clinical Supervisor will document provider orders, clinical actions, and interventions in the electronic health record. S/He communicates directly with the ADON for direction and information for clinical flow and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the triage of patients on-site and via telephone for appropriateness and timeliness of care per approved triage protocols and standing orders and accurately documents in log and electronic health record.
  • Perform clinical skills such as sterile dressings, EKGs, pulmonary treatments and the safe and accurate administration of medications and immunizations.
  • Assist medical staff with routine clinic tasks, examinations, and treatments.
  • Maintains PPE Inventory/log and medication inventory.
  • Completes forms for school, daycare, and sports physicals, and return to work/school forms as needed.
  • Acts as Vaccine Champion for Pediatric and COVID vaccines.
  • Ability to train staff on pediatric/adult vaccines.
  • Promptly informs DOCS of real or potential clinic problems.
  • Follows all established Infection Control guidelines and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the patient's EHR based on established documentation procedures.
  • Assist with telephone follow up with patients as directed by the provider or ADON and/or DON.
  • Under the direction of the provider and/or DOCS, assists with patient health education and follow up on established patient plan(s) of care.
  • Assists with the orientation and education of new clinical staff.
  • Evaluates performance of Medical Assistant staff and provides guidance.
  • Maintains Clinical Supervisor voicemail and responds to patient's questions/doctor's office requests in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates the huddle sheet and performs huddle daily.
  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing established policies and procedures and the ability to professionally encourage other to do the same to support a healthy team atmosphere.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping protected health information confidential and secure.
  • Participates in mandatory in-services and drills, attends staff meetings and other trainings, including appropriate age specific educational trainings offered on regular basis for professional development.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control guidelines established by the organization.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively organize and prioritize work and utilize available resources to assist with the efficient flow in the clinic.
  • Participation/involvement in Quality Improvement activities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate in English accurately and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to interact in a professional and patient-centered manner with patients.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with internal staff to deliver safe, effective, and quality care to all patients.
  • Must be able to plan, prioritize and complete assigned task with a high level of accuracy.
  • Must be able to work under time constraints while maintaining accurate records within vaccination records, EHR and new employee training documentation.
  • Three years of experience as a Medical Assistant and at least one to two years' experience as a Lead Medical Assistant.
  • Competent knowledge of EHR System, completion of all training for vaccination protocols, enhanced organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to precept new employees.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and critical thinking.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills.
  • Ability to lead a team and motivate teammates.
  • Ability to care for all patient populations with skill and compassion including pediatrics.
