About the position

The position involves assisting professional caregivers in delivering patient care, managing clerical tasks, and maintaining the patient care unit. The role is crucial in ensuring smooth operations within the healthcare environment, particularly in the Emergency Room, by providing both clinical and administrative support.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies.
• Critically reviews patient care documentation, noting significant changes in the patient's condition and reporting to a registered nurse or physician.
• Provides a variety of clerical tasks including organizing and prioritizing workload, greeting and directing visitors, and maintaining medical records.
• Performs routine quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory of supplies.
• Provides clinical support assistance including cleaning the work area, maintaining office equipment, and transporting patients/supplies/specimens.
• Provides direct personal care to patients as outlined in the plan of care activities such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
• Measures and records vital signs, and patient height and weight, and may be responsible for specimen collection and simple wound care.
• Reinforces routine teaching given to patients by the registered nurse or physician and documents patient understanding of instructions.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Listed as Nurse Aide I Registry with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience and six (6) months of related nursing assistant experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Fluency in verbal and written English language.
• Capability to develop computer skills if not already competent.
