About the position

This position is an emerging information technology professional responsible for planning, developing, testing, installing, maintaining, and providing ongoing optimization of applications and related information technologies. The role involves establishing, developing, and promoting standard architectures, as well as hardware and software components. The professional will develop clinical and business solutions by investigating processes to understand data and communications flow with individual tasks and transactions within Cook Children's Integrated Delivery System. This position advocates for user needs and coordinates support requests within the Information Services (IS) department, acting as a liaison among IS and clinical end users, patient care departments, vendors, and other technical experts. The professional supports efforts that ensure safe patient care services by developing and delivering clinically and technically sound solutions for customer technology needs. Expected role activities include, but are not limited to, the modification of applications as needed to meet user requirements, the definition and development of reports, participation in application upgrades, and participation in the resolution of problems and issues associated with installed applications and related information technologies. The professional will also be responsible for diagnosing failures encountered in application software and related technologies, ensuring quality control of all application implementations/enhancements prior to release to customers, and maintaining an awareness of vendor and industry developments/plans in their area of responsibility. Communication and documentation of all relevant items and activities are also key components of this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, Clinical Information Systems, Informatics, Information Technology, or Sciences is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of healthcare industry experience, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • At least 3 years' experience with clinical software and/or hardware technology databases, including design/optimization, configuration, training, or implementation of clinical systems applications.
