About the position

The Clinical Trial Contract & Budget Manager at Novartis is responsible for negotiating and finalizing Clinical Trial Agreements and amendments, ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints and protocol requirements. This role involves collaboration with various departments to facilitate contract execution and maintain proactive communication with finance and payments teams. The position requires a strong background in contract management within the pharmaceutical industry, along with excellent negotiation and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and finalize Clinical Trial Agreements and amendments including budget adjustments and contract modifications.
  • Develop and negotiate budgets for all contract amendment types and task orders.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Patent, and Insurance teams to negotiate agreements and amendments.
  • Evaluate amendment requests from investigational sites based on fair market value.
  • Maintain communication with the Payments team to ensure payment reconciliation before contract termination.
  • Work with finance specialists to complete payment reconciliation prior to terminating site contracts.
  • Liaise with Clinical Study Managers and investigational sites to expedite and finalize amendments.

Requirements

  • Degree in business administration, legal, finance, science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in pharmaceutical services with contract management and/or study start-up activities.
  • Experience in budget negotiation and contract management.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and team management skills.
  • Proficient in document and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-faceted projects.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and knowledge of clinical trial agreements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in clinical trial management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in clinical trials.
