About the position

The Clinical Trials Specialist will oversee the management of cardiothoracic, vascular, and surgical clinical trials within the Departments of Surgery and Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and the successful execution of clinical trials, including patient recruitment and protocol adherence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct study start-up activities for all assigned clinical trials.
• Review protocols in detail and set up record-keeping systems.
• Oversee the recruitment and enrollment of patients, implementing study procedures and administering the informed consent process.
• Collect and process data in specified systems according to clinical trial protocols.
• Prepare for and participate in site visits regularly.
• Schedule participants for protocol-related evaluations.
• Collaborate with physicians, investigators, and other healthcare providers.
• Administer, score, and evaluate results of patient assessments as assigned.
• Collect data, confer with the Clinical Trial Manager and/or Principal Investigator, and forward results to the sponsor.
• Ensure that patients are registered in accordance with the Research Billing Compliance Guidelines and educate billing staff about these guidelines.
• Maintain device/drug accountability log and ensure availability of device/drug supplies and/or equipment for studies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree preferred or in progress.
• Three years of work experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Experience in Clinical Trials is required.
• Proficiency with computers (i.e., MS Office, database, Internet) and data entry.
